In keeping with its commitment towards constant improvement of the range and
quality of services, the Prince Aly Khan Hospital has recently introduced two
new departments, details of which are given below.
Cardiothoracic Surgery
Cardiac, cardio-thoracic and vascular surgery is now available at our
hospital. This includes coronary artery bypass, surgery for heart valve defects,
surgery for chest conditions and various vascular surgeries. The main aim of
starting this program is to bring cardiac surgery affordable to our middle class
population.
The cardiac team is headed by Dr Hamdulay Z.I, who did his basic training in
cardiac surgery at Sion Hospital, followed by advanced training in Liverpool,
Manchester and Toronto. He has trained himself in both beating heart
(off-pump) and on-pump coronary bypass surgery, valve repair and replacement,
complex congenital surgery and heart transplant in his five years stay abroad.

In
Vitro Fertilization Centre
The Prince Aly Khan Hospital
IVF (in vitro fertilization) Centre offers a comprehensive range
of infertility services under one roof. The associated Aesculap
Academy for Minimally Invasive Surgery (Training Research) is the
first gynaecologic endoscopic training centre established by B
Braun, Germany in the Asia Pacific region. The centre is manned
by a highly experienced team of specialists. The team is headed
by Dr Gautam Allahbadia, an acknowledged expert in the field of
infertility.
Services Offered
The PAKH-IVF (in vitro fertilization) Centre provides comprehensive fertility
services including basic work-up of the infertile couple, one-stop fertility
diagnostic services including hormonal testing, in vitro fertilization (IVF),
intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), igamete processing, ovulation induction
and monitoring, assisted hatching, surgical sperm retrieval, minimally invasive
ultrasound guided procedures, uterine cavity assessment (sono-contrast hysterography),
fallopian tube sperm perfusion, GIFT and ZIFT. All diagnostic and operative
laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and other reproductive endoscopic surgeries are offered.
Besides female infertility, comprehensive services are offered for investigation
and treatment of male infertility as well.
The Centre will also conduct training courses in gynaecologic endoscopy
under the aegis of the Aesculap Academy. Additionally, the Centre offers
a full-time one-year clinical fellowship in assisted reproductive techniques.
