Information for Volunteers

Volunteering has been a time-honoured tradition with the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) and the Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS,P). Over 3,000 volunteers all across Pakistan offer their time and energy. They have become vital cornerstones of AKHS,P. AKHS,P has a strong policy of selection based upon merit and does not discriminate on the grounds of gender, race/ethnicity and origin.

Volunteers are issued an identification card, which must be carried while on the premises. Attendance is marked at the assigned unit. In case of a leave of absence, volunteers are required to inform the Administrator in advance so that alternative arrangements be made. Candidates with less than 75 percent attendance during their voluntary assignment will not be eligible for award of the Certificate of Volunteerism. Please note that this assignment is for honorary/voluntary work only and service delivery volunteers are not eligible for financial compensations. This certificate helps volunteers enhance their professional prospects. There are numerous examples where volunteers have in fact joined the department after successful completion of their volunteer period.
