Outpatient Specialist Clinics
In addition to General Clinics (Monday to Saturday), the following
outpatient specialist clinics are available:
Internal Medicine Department
The Medicine Department can address all key sub-specialties,
providing comprehensive outpatient, inpatient and diagnostic
services. The Department has two full-time consultants providing
internal medicine service, with particular expertise in chronic
disease management including HIV/AIDS, cardiology and renal
dialysis.
The Department has a number of visiting consultants experienced
in all subspecialties of medicine including neurology, dermatology,
diabetes, paediatric cardiology, gastroenterology.
The department has Tanzania’s most advanced Cardiac Diagnostic
Unit with modern Electrocardiogramme (ECG), Echo and Stress Test
facilities. Medical cases from across Tanzania are referred for
diagnostic testing.
Diabetic Clinic
Diagnosis and ongoing care for diabetics include:
• Health education
• Dietary advice
• Consultant and nurse specialist
support for diabetic mellitus
• Thyroid disorder
• Hormone growth disorder
• Infertility
• Lipid disorder
• Obesity
• Autonomic disorders.
Dietetic Clinic
Diabetic, cardiology and hypertension patients are advised on
weight loss at this clinic.
Tuberculosis Clinic
Delivered in partnership with the Tanzanian Ministry of Health,
this clinic offers diagnosis, treatment and on-going care at no
cost to all Tuberculosis patients.
Full-time consultants, supported by part-time specialists, junior
doctors and nurses, staff each clinic.
Clinic opening hours:
Monday to Friday: 0830 - 1830hrs
Sundays and Public Holidays: 0830 - 1230hrs
Surgery
The Surgical Department at the Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es Salaam
provides comprehensive outpatient, inpatient and diagnostic services.
The department covers all the major sub-specialties of surgery:
• Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT)
• Endoscopic surgery
• Eye
• General surgery
• Neurosurgery
• Orthopaedics
• Thoracic surgery
• Urology
The Hospital’s resident surgeons and visiting consultants
perform these procedures in operating theatres equipped for complex
surgeries. They are supported by an Intensive Care Unit and surgical
ward.
All the rooms in the surgical ward include: air conditioning,
nurse call system, cardiac arrest alarm system, piped oxygen,
refrigerator, TV and telephone.
